Changes to my study programme

Imagen
I have a love-hate relationship with the curriculum of my degree program. I am a second year journalism student at the University of Chile (something my old readers already know ;) ), and I have made several observations about the subjects. First, I think they should make a change regarding the basic training subjects, which we share with the Film and Television career, since they take up a lot of time and I don't consider them "important" at all.  I don't want my opinion to be misunderstood, I do think it is necessary to have those courses, since they still contribute to our professional training, but they should be changed the way they are practiced. Many times, for example, we do not have time to dedicate ourselves completely to the specific branches of the career (such as reporting or radio), because we pay attention to the "small" branches of basic training, because they sometimes demand a lot of time. I think they should merge them or reduce their aca...

Time travel to the future

Imagen
I would like to travel back to the year 2300 (I would say the year 2500 or 3000, but I really don't think the human species will survive to that year), so I can see where the world stands on environmental issues. In 2018, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a report warning that it only has until 2030 to stop catastrophic climate change. Personally, I do not believe that we will be able to stop climate change, but neither do I believe that we will live the consequences of climate change. It will be the children and grandchildren of our generations who will suffer its effects: the total extinction of coral reefs, ten million more people exposed to flooding, fewer and fewer areas suitable for growing cereal crops, extreme droughts, forest fires and food shortages for hundreds of millions of people. I have always had a special taste for watching post-apocalyptic movies (Maze Runner for example) and I have always believed that these are very feasible scenari...

My Future Job

The job I would like to have would be to be a correspondent for a press media, either physical or digital. Since I was little I have been "afraid" and rejected the idea of having a job that consists of being in an office from 8 am to 5 pm, plus a desire to have a job that allows me to travel a lot or be outdoors, so I always thought it was great to be a journalist and that's why I'm studying journalism. Journalism moves with the world, every day there is a new news or a surprising fact, and it never gets monotonous, and that's what I want to do for the rest of my life. I would like to be a correspondent for a news media, either a written or digital media, abroad or even in another city in Chile. The idea of traveling and getting to know new places and new people with their life experiences thanks to my work seems fantastic to me.  The fact of being able to communicate to the world what happens in a place far away from it, I am very passionate about it, to reach w...

Pets

Imagen
Hello dear readers Well, at this point in my life I don't have a pet, but I would like to tell you about the two pets I have had in my life: Princesa and Copita. Although they both departed this plane to a better world, I think it never hurts to remember those beings that once were, and still are, part of our family.  Shortly after I turned 3 years old, my family and I adopted Princesa. I remember going to adopt her on a day when it had rained, seeing how precious she was from the moment we took her, and hours later, at night, sleeping in a makeshift dog bed made from a shoebox, fleece blanket and pillows. Princesa passed away in 2016, at 11 years of age. 2017 brought Copita into our family, we gave ourselves the opportunity to love another pet again in the same way we did with Princesa. Copita was medium sized, her coat was a beige color, which at one point was white, but was ruined because she loved to roll around in the yard, and she had wide open brown eyes, with which sh...

Childhood series

Imagen
When I was a little girl I loved watching television, I spent hours watching all the programs that were on in the afternoons and I knew by heart the schedules of each channel. I remember changing from channel to channel according to the time the programs I liked were on, and there was no worse situation than when I had to decide which series to watch when two of my favorite shows were on at the same time. Or the anger I felt when I saw that "there was nothing good on TV". If I had to choose my 5 favorite series, among Disney, Nickelodeon, and Jetix (now Disney XD) channels, it would be The Fairly OddParents, Pucca, Drake & Josh, The Wizards of Waverly Place, and Victorius.   The series Pucca in specific brings me very nice memories since it was shown in the morning around 7 am, just at the time when my mom would wake me up and get me dressed to go to class, or when my grandma would make me my breakfast before dropping me off at school. Those memories fill my heart an...
